In order to form an official political party in the State of Iowa, the supporters of a new political party must run a candidate for either the office of President or the office of Governor. If the candidate receives 2% of the vote, the State of Iowa will officially recognize the political party.
Local Cedar Rapids residents and citizens from outside the City of Cedar Rapids have decided to form a new political party. Here's a link to the The Citizen Action Party.
